This World Environment Day, we’re proud to stand with the global #BeatPlasticPollution movement by rethinking the way we operate to reduce plastic and waste at source. Across our hotels and resorts globally, we’re replacing single-use plastic room amenities like toothbrushes, razors, and combs with elegant bamboo alternatives, installing filtered water taps in guest rooms and piloting durable alternatives like marble, stone, and stainless-steel chopping boards in our kitchens and food display areas to minimize microplastic contamination in food preparation and presentation. Our efforts also extend beyond our doors: 1. We assembled a skimmer boat to collect floating rubbish from the sea. 2. Our dedicated volunteers regularly carry out coastal cleanups. This year alone, 59 team members removed 532.1 kg of rubbish from our shores. 3. We participate in the International Coastal Cleanup annually, submitting data to Ocean Conservancy to help identify and reduce the most common pollutants. This International Day for Biological Diversity, we’re proud to stand united in support of this year’s theme: harmony with nature and sustainable development – a commitment we’ve honoured through our Sanctuary programme since 2010.
